Do you have a child aged 1-10 years old who is struggling with anxiety, ADHD or acting out? Would you identify your child as “strong-willed”? Or maybe your child is a constant worrier.
Now imagine your child relaxed and happily listening the first time and strangers noticing your child's calm and sweet behavior?
Mending Hearts Family Counseling Center offers workshops to help you reach this goal and manage difficult child behaviors such as:
Tantrums
Whining
Constant worrying
Screaming and cursing
Separation anxiety
Hitting or kicking
Back talk
Biting
Crying
Property destruction
Pre-school expulsion
Difficulty controlling anger or other strong emotions
Our workshops are fun, interactive and provide an atmosphere of mutual support. You’ll meet with other parents who are experiencing similar ups and downs and gain valuable skills from our child behavior expert who is also a licensed therapist and who personally knows the struggle of parenting a child with significant behavioral challenges.
Offered in an educational format, our workshops are based in the principles from Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). PCIT is a family treatment researched and developed through UC Davis Children’s Hospital and backed by 100’s of studies and 40 years of research.
A recent study shows PCIT to be more effective than stimulant medication for treating disruptive behaviors. While we don’t provide therapy at the workshops, we will teach the principles of PCIT in an educational format.
Adoptive/foster families can especially benefit! All our services are LGBTQ+ Affirmative.
