Mending Hearts Family Counseling Center offers workshops to help you reach this goal and manage difficult child behaviors such as:

• Tantrums

• Whining

• Constant worrying

• Screaming and cursing

• Separation anxiety

• Hitting or kicking

• Back talk

• Biting

• Crying

• Property destruction

• Pre-school expulsion

• Difficulty controlling anger or other strong emotions

Our workshops are fun, interactive and are held in an atmosphere of mutual support. You’ll meet with other parents and caregivers who are experiencing similar ups and downs and gain valuable skills from our child expert who is a licensed therapist and who personally knows the struggle of parenting a child with difficult behaviors.

Our workshops teach parents and caregivers the behavior management strategies of PCIT & PC-CARE, the newest version of PCIT developed by UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Standard PCIT has long been considered the gold standard for treating child disruptive behaviors as it has been shown to be more effective than Child Centered Play Therapy and even stimulant medication.

A recent study has even found PC-CARE to provide significantly greater rates of improvement in a comparable amount of time as standard PCIT.

While our workshops are not therapy, they do gather the gems of PCIT & PC-CARE and teach them to parents in a fun and easy to understand, educational format.

Adoptive/foster families can especially benefit! All our services are LGBTQ+ Affirmative.
